On a cold and cloudy January morning, 20 intrepid souls from the Albemarle Sail and Power Squadron assembled in the Albemarle Plantation parking lot to begin their search for geodetic markers throughout Perquimans County. Group organizer and leader Jim Burns, AP, had prepared packages containing marker data sheets, report forms and county maps. Each team was equipped with tape measure, compass, gps, camera, trowel/shovel, and warm clothing. After a morning long expedition, we returned to the AP clubhouse to fill out our reports, swap stories, and enjoy some lunch. The complete results are not yet tabulated, but the photos below tell a lot about the story. One lesson learned: next time we will take along a metal detector.
